Len: I took Remicade for 18 months. I have a history of allergies. A few days after my last infusion, my throat felt as if it was closing. I took Prednisone immediately and Benadryl (Iwas at work). I called the doc who wanted me to go to a hospital in a few weeks to be checked for allergies. I did not do that. Even though it was a hospital setting, I have had enough bad experiences with allergies that my doc and I decided to not continue taking Remicade. Eventually, I was given Humira which worked fine for more than a year and then my neck swelled to a point where the doc was worried about lymphoma. Fortunately, I did not have lymphoma. I started taking Entocort and gained a ton of weight but did not have any problems with the medicine or Crohn's Disease.
I don't know if this helps you or not. We are all so different. For example, your son
is 14 and I am 64.
Let us know how things work out for you.

My 14 year old son Zach has had a good symptom-free 7 months on
Remicade infusions.
Within the past few weeks he has appeared to have developed an
asthematic type allergy.
At the same time, his UC-related symptoms of mucusy stools and
difficulty holding it in have returned.
My question....Has anyone in the group had their UC affected by allergy
season? Could it be due perhaps to a weakened immune
system caused by the allergens?
