Babette: In the beginning of treating my Crohn's, I was put on Imuran and kept throwing up, same with 6MP. Eventually, I was on Remicade for 18 months before developing a severe allergy to it. (throat started swelling & closing). I was then put on Humira and developed an upper respiratory infection and swollen glands. I was taken off of Humira. Both were wonderful as far as helping my Crohn's.
I am now on Entocort and it is working very very well except that it has increased my appetite and I am overeating.
Sorry you are having side effects to meds along with having to deal with UC. Hope there is something that will help. Good thing they caught the hepatitis and hope the doc is able to treat that so that you recover quickly.
Let us know how you are doing.

I have a pretty bad case of UC that has sent me to the hospital several times. I was not responding to prednisone and so my doctor put me on Imuran. I did not do so well with that either and my doctor put me on Remicade. I have been having the infusions regularly since July last year.A couple of weeks ago my GI contacted me to let me know that my lab results from my blood work came back abnormal liver levels. I went in again for further blood work, and my doctor called to notify me that I have autoimmune hepatitis. (Apparently, it is also common in people who have UC as well as an effect from certain medications). We've spoken briefly over the phone about it, and I am actually going in to talk to him further about it on Tuesday. I am supposed to have a liver biopsy done as well. For obvious reasons this has upset me, but what also upsets me is that I assume I can no longer take Remicade (not even sure I want to even if I could) and I am worried about what I will do now? It has worked so wonderfully for me for the past year I don't like the thought of going back to being as sick as I was. Has anyone been taking Remicade and have had adverse effects from if? If so, what do you do now for your UC if you are no longer able to take the Remicade?Babette
