I am 36 and was diagnosed with UC about 7 months ago. I was on
Asacol for the past 7 months but it didn't stop me from having 3
flare ups in seven months with the last one landing me in the
hospital. On top of a severe flare up I also had chest pains and was
diagnosed with myocarditis which my gastro thinks might have
something to do with the Asacol so he's taken me off that for good!
Because I can't be on Asacol or any other drug in the class, he has
me on prednisone (weaning me slowly off) while putting me on
athaziaprine. I'm nervous of all the side effects of that drug but I
just hope it helps me. My life has not been the same since I had the
first bout of this and I'm so tired of feeling crappy.
Has anyone had any luck with any "alternative" types of
treatment..whether it's something you swallow or something you do
like accupuncture? Any help??
