I just wanted to tell you that I was very young when I discovered that I had crohns and just a few years ago they told me I had UC as well. I kept a dairy and it helped out I still keep it when I have a flare up. I was also on 6mp and it did not work that well but they put me on remicade which is an injection that takes 2 hours to infuse and also methotrexate that is a weekly shot.. Also they could put her on pentasa which is like asocal but better in a way. Let me know if there is any more questions you or your daughter might have. I hope that I was helpful.

I've read through a lot of the posts (not very fond of yahoo groups!) but I've found some great information here.
I'm the father of an 11, almost 12, year old
girl who has been diagnosed with Cronhs, currently on Asacol, although she still has nausa and diarreah, we're going to the dr next week to see about putting her on mp6.
As a very scared father, who stil doesn't understand all of the terms I was wondering if some one could provide a few answers, or at least point me in the right direction, as the doctors that I've spoken to so far have been very generic in their reponses.
As far as I can tell it's very hard to work out what, if anything will trigger a chrons attack (by that I mean nausa/vommitimng/diahara), but once it's started certain things can be done to make life easier.
Do OTC enzymes really do any good (latcaid and others)?
Does diet make a major differnece when an episode occurs ?
Will keeping a "food diary" help in finding any trigger points to an episode?
Are emotional triggers (i.e. high stress) that important, or will it just go in
cycles?
I'm so sorry to be vague in my questions, which I'm sure have been answered many times. I'm just trying to find solutions that I can "sell" to my daughter that sound like that they might help, if only a bit, and to my self!
