Hi Melissa
Welcome to the group I'm Candace and also a newbie to
the group. I'm 6months pregnant and started getting
sick about 3months earlier having up to 30bowel
movements a day and have lost 20lbs.
After a colonoscopey and several stays in the
hospital, I finally was diagnosed with inflamatory
bowel diease, but will to wait till after I have the
baby for further testing to see if I have Crohn's or
Colitis. My doc put me on Asacol400mg 9 pills a day
and Mesalamine 4gm enemas( which really have made the
most difference).
I have now gained back 5lbs and down to 5-7 bowel
movements most days.
I found a really great book that might help you,
EATING RIGHT FOR A BAD GUT by Dr. James Scala.
Its an awesome book! There was alot of foods making my
symptoms worse like dairy( bad bloating) any fatty
foods( even more frequent stools) and not cooking
certain foods right, like beans and certain veggies
can make you really sick with all the insoluable
fiber but if you cook then down alot it breaks that
down and way more tolerable.
The great thing is now I'm doing better I'm able to
tolerate more foods, like I can add some more fat to
my diet and veggies but still having a big prob with
dairy and fruit. It sucks it being summer and
watermelon makes me so sick!
Oh I have a question does Crohn's run in your
family?
