I was on Asacol for a few years and got switched to Pentasa. The doctor said that for those that Asacol work for Pentasa doesn't and vise versa. They don't know why.
I have always been able to eat red meat, but not the veggies. Everybody seems to be different. I do cook my meat so its so tender though that you almost don't have to chew it.
Make sure he isn't eating peanuts, nuts, coconut, corn and other really hard to digest foods. Also gassy foods like lettuce, cabbage, brocolli, beans etc Also soft drinks can be a problem, because the fizz can cause gasiness
My doctor put me on Nulev which is really for irritable bowel, but it still helps when I have pain from Crohns.
If nothing else it helps you sleep, before the hurting goes away. Hope something I offered helps. Barb

Hey everyone. I have a question. My son Adam (12) has been hurting
real bad in his stomach again. This pain is always worse at night.
He's not having a flare up, thank God, but the pain is extremely
intense. My wife even called his ped. GI Doc last night (2:00 am),
just to see if there's anything else to do.
He's already scheduled for another colonoscopy, and the upper GI
soon. They are also going to be doing more blood work this week. He
takes his Asacol twice a day, and Bentyl at night. My question is,
does anyone here experience real bad pain just at night?
Thanks,
John
