This group is for the practice of Gendlin's Experiential Focusing and Rogers' Reflective Listening skills. Group members can use this space to take a Focusing Turn online. Although there is no guarantee, often someone else (and sometimes several people!) in the e-group will respond with a form of reflective Listening Response.Group members also can take responsibility for asking for the kind of Listening Response (or none!) which they want.

Group members want to provide a safe place on the internet for the actual PRACTICE of Focusing/Listening Turns. There are a variety of e-lists, many sponsored by The Focusing Institute, where discussion about Focusing happens. These e-lists can be found under "Felt Community" at www.focusing.org.

In this e-group, we hope for actual Focusing/Listening Turns, with a minumum of discussion.

There is no moderator for this e-group. Although the e-group was begun by Dr. Kathy McGuire of Creative Edge Focusing, she resigned as moderator in March, 2011, becoming a group member only, and agreeing to allow the space to continue as long as it is providing a needed space for Listening/Focusing Turns without her continuing to feel a sense of responsibility as its original founder.

Growing from Gendlin's and Rogers' initial work, a variety of slightly different methods of Focusing and Listening have appeared. Group members are encouraged to upload short articles explaining their own preferred methods for Focusing and Listening in the Files section of the e-group.
