Re: [costochondritis] Recently Diagnosed with Costo/sherri

i also had that lump in the throat feeling. for me, it was secondary pain from
the pain in my sternum. you should tell our Dr about the throat though, to be
sure. try also asking for celebrex. its worked the best for me so far. ive also
heard that mobic was pretty good too.
hope this helps,
unlucky girl

Hello.
I am so excited to have found this group and to realize I am not
alone. I have read past postings, but wanted to go over a few things
with all of you.

My symptoms: Came on suddenly 3 weeks ago after having dinner with
my son. I had extreme pain in the middle of my chest that radiated
out to my breasts. I imagine it's what a heart attack would feel
like. . . It hurt to move, breathe, swallow, lay on my stomach, side,
etc. This went on for over a week, then I finally broke down and
went to the doctor. EKG came back normal. When she pushed on my
upper rib cage between the sternum, I thought I would jump off the
exam table. She then determined I had costo and told me it would
only last 3-5 weeks. She gave me prescription strength ibuprofen to
help with the inflamation. It doesn't help. She then gave me Lortab
for the pain. It doesn't help. Nothing seems to help. If I do
nothing, it feels better. But who can do nothing all day? It hurts
to take laundry out of the washer and put it in the dryer. It hurts
to take a dish out of the microwave. It's painful to do the normal
day to day things I used to do. Now, 3 weeks later, it still hurts
and now I feel as if I have a lump in my throat. I've read that it
could be all the inflamation pushing up on my esophagus. Anyone have
a "lump in the throat" feeling? Could it be gastric? Ahhhh.....
this is driving me nuts.

Thanks for listening and any help or advice anyone can offer would be
extremely appreciated.

Sherri
