Hi Group,

I just ran across this by accident and I'd already been planning a trip
to Costa Rica, but now considering having some lipo done.

I've had Lipo in the states about 10 years ago and want to do a bit
more on my stomach and love handle areas and was wondering who everyone
recommends and what the cost avg. is there?

Thanks,

Wesley

I had an excellent experience, breast reduction and 5
liter lipo on 3/16/07. Dr's Cohen and Rosenstock were
kind and helpful, and the work I had done has been
greatly admired here in the states, especially the
breast reduction, which is a surgery that often comes
out very badly.

I had intended to have a tummy tuck, but the dr's felt
I would not be please with the results and gave me a
very lovely result with the lipo.

I was also very impressed with the results of the
facial surgeries I saw in the waiting room--my mother
and I will both be having an upper bleph in five
years, and I will certainly be going back to
Rosenstock based on what I saw there. There were
ladies at my recovery home who also had blephs done
and had much more bruising and swelling.

Hi,

I am planning to have an exoderm peel with Dr. DaCruz in San Jose.
I've done quite a bit of research on him and the peel, but I'd like to
know if anyone has been to him and what they have to say. I stayed at
Las Cumbres when I went for a consult and thought it was terrific.
Thanks,
Maddie

Remember that TV is going to focus on those few who have had less than
perfect results. The media love controversy.

Do your research... find out as much as you can about any doctor you are
interested in. Michelle the owner of this list is an American RN who has
been working With plastic surgeons in Costa Rica to become a licensed RD in
Costa Rica. She has had several procedure there.... I'm sure she can answer
a lot of questions... and point you toward many sources for your research.

Hi Kim.
My name is Keschauna and I am from Chicago.  I am also excited and I am happy to here that you have someone to be with you.  I am actually going alone but I think I will be OK.  I was thinking about staying at this place called ANA CARMONA, the Rosenstock center sent me an email and said she had been taking care of their patients for 10 years.  I heard good things about the place from people that have stayed there.  I was told that it's $85/ night and this will not include the massage that they say is  needed for a speedy recovery.  I am going to get lipo of the abdomen, waist and inner thighs.  I don't want my hips done so I'm hoping they will give me a cut on the price.  Inner thighs only I was told cost $800.  I'm only staying for 10 days.  Oh by the way I am 31 and in need of lipo ha ha.  I hope that before I go I find someone that is going the same week as myself.   The airfare that I have found here is around $550 so I guess that is what I will be paying.  All of my friends think that I am crazy for going to Costa Rica I'm pretty sure you have heard some of the negative comments also.  This is why I got on the message board so that I can get support from people like me.  Please don't forget me and let me know everything that you hear or see and I will do the same.  If you just want to talk I'm up for that to.

Hi All,

I can assure you it is not Dr. Macaya.  He does surgery at Clinica Santa Lucia and they do not have a laser machine.  The laser equipment is at CIMA.  If you want laser work on your incisions, which some call hype and others swear by, it can be done by Dr. Oscar Suarez, Dr. Miguel Alfaro, Dr. Rodrigo Araya, Dr. Lev, Dr. Mora and Dr. Montoya.  The laser machine itself runs about $150,000 and then you have to pay "per jolt" and the cartridges have to be replaced (sort of like ink for a printer).  Consider the cost of about $500 more dollars per surgery if you want this finish work.

fbesn@...   From what I understand the scaring with this technique is
very thin with less chance of any widening of the incision line.

From what I understand from other's is that the arm surgery is the hardest
to recover from.  You want to use the arms as little as possible and not
lift them over your head at all.  For quite some time.  You also don't want
to do any heavy lifting either.  Both can cause the incision line to widen
significantly.  The inner arm is quite sensitive and the healing can be much
harder as far as pain goes.

Hi, my name is Kim. I'm from New Hampshire, and I had GBS 11/22/04. I
have now lost a total of 126 lbs, and I need to start finding out
about
plastic surgery. I am interested in going to San Jose, Costa Rica
sometime between June and October this year. [:)]

I know an Internal Medicine Dr out in Colorado, and she has several
pt's
that have all gone down to a Dr Rodrigo Araya in San Jose, Costa Rica.
These women she said, look wonderfull and are so happy with the
plastic
surgery work that he has done. I will be contacting each woman to see
for myself how they look and how they feel, and at that time then I
will
finish up and make my final decision from all that. But it all sounds
great and they are happy with the results. One lady had work done
almost
4 yrs ago and she said she would be going back to him this year for
some
other work to be done.

I need alot of work, I need a total lower body lift, abdominoplasty
with
tightening up all the stomach muscles, a breast lift and prob. get
implants put in as well, Lipo all over, and an inner thigh lift.
Hopefully that will do me for a LONG TIME!!!!!!

So if anyone has gone to him or down there for plastic surgery, I
would
love to hear what you have to say. I want to know the prices also, and
any info on after surgery care, if the places are nice and any
problems
at all????

Thanks so much!

Kim

to have the controversial gastric bypass surgery. Singer Carnie
Wilson, actress Jackie Guerra and L.A. radio personality "Big Boy"
open up about why they decided to have the surgery, and how their
lives have changed since their operations. Plus, Jackie and Carnie

Gastric Bypass has saved my life. I am forever grateful for making
this decision. Follow up and after care is something that each of
us should take seriously. If you are uninsured or underinsured, I
have an extensive and thorough gastric bypass annual and bi-annual
program that will give you the peace of mind that comes with
preventative healthcare.

The annual program includes:

Extensive labwork to check for subtle and obvious malabsorption
issues
IV and oral supplementation to "top off all your depleted levels"
(It's sort of like stopping by "Jiffy Lube" for your post-op body
An endoscopy (to check everything from the mouth to the small bowel)
A colonoscopy (to check everything in the large intestine to the
colon)
A radiologic function x-ray (to make sure all the connections are
safe and secure)
A complete and thorough ocular and retinal test
Complete bone and skeletal frame testing
Liver function tests and assessments
Cardiac function tests and assessments for heart attack, stroke and
circulatory health

Each of these assessments, treatments, labs and diagnostic tests are
given to ensure that your body is functioning optimally in a post-op
state. I know from being severely anemic that you can be completely
asymptomatic and be at alarmingly low levels. This is a matter of
the body compensating. Compensation works for a while, but without
treatment and careful monitoring and treatment, you can find
yourself in a less than optimal health state.

The post-op program including all these assessments, treatments,
labs and diagnostic tests is just $999. This is the cash price.
You get your entire chart with all your images, results, scans and
tests. You should keep these with your important papers and
documents. It's an impressive journey to know what is going on (on
the inside of your body).

Be Well and Take Care,
Michelle

Hello Margo, I have never used the healthcostarica website. I have always arranged my surgical procedures through the Rosenstock Lieberman clinic website directly. Dr. Cohen is the one to respond to emails. Both and and Dr. Rashi work in tandem on most procedures. You will be in very good hand with Dr.'s Rashi, Cohen and Garita. I saw the work done on a women who was also staying at Las Cumbres. He did beautiful work on her. She was very pleased with her outcome. She also had a face lift and liposuction done at the R/L clinic during her stay.

I have seen Dr.'s Rashi/Cohen on 3 different trips for surgical procedures. They do outstanding work and are great men.they have very different personalities. I stayed at Las Cumbres on 2 of my 3 visits and highly reccomend it as well. On my first visit to Costa Rica, I had my teeth laser whitened and my partner had a crown done  by Dr. Rubenstein. We were both very pleased with her work.
I hope my response begins to answer your questions Margot. I have found Dr.Cohen to respond quickly to my emails and accomodate my surgery schedules. Feel free to ask me more questions, Darla

I just joined the group today when I asked Nora at healthcostarica.com
for references. I started at that site and am a bit confused if this is
the site of Rosenstock and Lieberman or a general site as they also
answer my dentl questions. I saw other dentists that I might rather
have chosen but didn't see a way to coordinate everything.  I have
heard from Dr. Garita personally, who I hope will be good- along with
his staff, but never from Dr.Rashi Rosenstock.  I have emailed back and
forth and have gotten a confirmation for dates from the dentist but
still nothing from the doctor. I want to make sure I get the surgeon I
want. Didn't have much to go on except his training credentials which
look to be excellent.  I have chosen to stay at LasCumbres .  It looks
great and I am supposed to set my dates for staying there hopefullly
next month but still very slow in getting confirmation for the
surgery.  I feel like I'm running in circles.  I would love to hear
about your experience there and if anyone who has personally used
either of thes doctors. I live in NYC and had a facelift here 10 years
ago. Prices here are through the roof so I am choosing Costa Rica. I
was nervous then but even moe nervous now.  Any and all responses would
be greatly appreciated.

Hello Kelly, I am not sure what information you would like so please feel free to ask specific questions. I have had all my plastic surgery done at the Rosenstock/Lieberman clinic. I am very pleased with the outcome of my work at this clinic. I have stayed twice at Las Cumbres and once at Villa La Mas. I would reccomend Las Cumbres over Villa La Mas since they are better staffed and organized. I have heard very good reports on Ana Carmona's surgical retreat. I have also heard good reports on Teh Chica retreat. I have not heard anything alarming about any of the plastic surgeons in Costa Rica. Most of the docs use local hospitals except for the R/L clinic which uses their own surgical suites and recovery rooms. Let me know what else I can answer for you Kelly, Darla
