Re: [costaricaplasticsurgery] Recommendations

Hi All,

I can assure you it is not Dr. Macaya.  He does surgery at Clinica Santa Lucia and they do not have a laser machine.  The laser equipment is at CIMA.  If you want laser work on your incisions, which some call hype and others swear by, it can be done by Dr. Oscar Suarez, Dr. Miguel Alfaro, Dr. Rodrigo Araya, Dr. Lev, Dr. Mora and Dr. Montoya.  The laser machine itself runs about $150,000 and then you have to pay "per jolt" and the cartridges have to be replaced (sort of like ink for a printer).  Consider the cost of about $500 more dollars per surgery if you want this finish work.

Hi Congrats on your weight loss!

I have yet to go down to CR, I am hoping this fall will work out for me.  I
don't think you could find any better surgeons than Dr Rashi and Dr Cohen at
the R/L Clinic.  The clinic has a top notch surgical suite.  The doctors are
well trained and are fellows of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
Surgery.  They are the only Central American doctors who can offer teaching
seminars for credit.  They are very will to work with you if you need any
follow-up care.... such as infection issues or any needed revisions.  That
being said, there isn't a doctor alive who hasn't had patients develop
infections or needed revisions.... it happens to the best.

I won't need arm or thigh lifts so scaring there is not an issue for me....
however since you are looking at those surgeries you might look into a
doctor there that is doing laser incisions.  I've heard his results are very
remarkable.  I can't remember his name I think it may be Dr Macaya..... but
Michelle Boastin can tell you more about him and give you the correct name.
fbesn@...   From what I understand the scaring with this technique is
very thin with less chance of any widening of the incision line.

From what I understand from other's is that the arm surgery is the hardest
to recover from.  You want to use the arms as little as possible and not
lift them over your head at all.  For quite some time.  You also don't want
to do any heavy lifting either.  Both can cause the incision line to widen
significantly.  The inner arm is quite sensitive and the healing can be much
harder as far as pain goes.

The upper part of the leg also has the same issues with sensitivity and
pain.

Betty Pappas   <betbyron@...> Has had both arms and legs done by
R/L  Betty had multiple thigh surgery as the doctors first tried only
pulling up the skin on the thigh but she had too much skin and this didn't
really work well for her, in the end they redid the surgery using a
t-incision to tighten the skin around the leg.
Pam Gotcher  pam@...   Has had her arms done, I'm not sure about
thighs.
Sharon Johnson scollin@...  Also has had arms and thighs done.

Hope this helps.  Sorry it took me so long in replying.  I'd been out of
town visiting my grandchildren.....

Hugs,
LyndaV
