Hi all,
Has anyone ever experienced having a tummy tuck and/or lipo on abdomen and also
have a hiatal hernia diagnosis?
I have acid reflux pretty bad, have been diagnosed several years ago w/hiatal
hernia but would like to do the tummy tuck and lipo. Could I be setting myself
up for some long-term pain since the tightening of the stomach muscles WOULD put
pressure and "push" everything up?
Thanks,
Mary
I'm a guy too. Lost some weight a number of years ago and am considering
cosmetic to get rid of the flaps. One thing I noticed that after weight loss was
I was able to just do more in general. More activity, more walking, etc. and
that seems to help keep weight down. Special excercise program not necessary.
But your body will still have a mind of it's own. If you have been able to lose
weight and keep a fairly steady "new" weight for about a year you may be okay. I
can fluctuate as much as 10 pounds over the course of a year. You may need to
track your highs and lows for a while too.
Just some thoughts.

Hi All!
I will be undergoing a body lift, breast lift and augmentation 6 1/2 years after
having gastric bypass and another child to boot. I cannot live with my "skin"
anymore and need it gone. I know that it is going to be painful but I would
LOVE to hear from people that have had this so I know what to really expect.
What are things that you wished you had at the house before surgery? How did
you sleep (sorry I don't have a recliner available)? Did anyone have a young
child they had to take care of (mine is 16 mos old)? I was hoping to have the
surgery before the older kids went back to school but that didn't work out as
planned. My husband works 3 1/2 hrs from home so he is only home on the
weekends and can only take 6 days off - after that it is going to be just me
with the baby during school hours that is. I have had 3 kids w/o drugs so I
know pain. I also know the pain of the gb surgery but I need a reality check
please. Is it as bad as everyone makes it out to be? How do you sit - do the
stitches in the back pull?
Thanks!!!!
You might find video/TV by searching pbs.org, google video, and/or youtube.com
Might find before/after pics of similar work on goggle images.

I'm scheduled for a revision in August and being in Canada lucky its all been

New questions.
Sorry to interrupt your question. Never had a tt so I'm not sure of the
answer, however all my girlfriends w/ tt have been thrilled w/ the results. Just
do a lot of research on the surgeon regarding his track record w/ what it is u
want. For example: he may be great with breast procedures, but not as impressive
in the tummy area.
I've asked questions once or twice here and not been answered. Pleeeaaase,
if someone can answer my questions, it would be so appreciated.
1) 20 years ago I had breast augmentation in an attempt to correct marked
asymetry (sp?). It was far cheaper to have them both made into the larger one,
and insurance wasn't so good about covering that kind of stuff then. Now
they cause constant pain, primarily to my back, but also the breasts themselves.
They're DD, and I have a 5'4" 115 lb frame. Does anyone know the
liklihood of insurance covering the removal of the implants, and perhaps a lift?
I figure they'll remove them, but am not so sure about the lift, and without
it I don't even want to think about results.
2) My neck and chest are really showing my age and then some. Is there anything
that can be done about the neck short of a face lift? What can be done to
correct the sun damage on the chest?
I'd appreciate any tips!
Thanks

Hi,
I had an extended abdominplasty sometime around the end of May. I have pointy
dog ears which the surgeon said can be fixed. My concern is the skin that feels
distended and looks like a roll above my newly constructed belly button. Surgeon
said that it was because I had lost so much weight and there was nothing to
"hang" it on. I feel it was because he did not removed as much skin as he
should. Does this feel right?

Regarding dog ears. I needed a second procedure to remove them about a year
after my abdominal recon. Again this was my experience, mine were very pointy.
No lipo was involved, that would have been extra. Wedge shapes were removed with
a scalpel. This was done in a clinic under local anesthetic. My surgery also
corrected all the hanging skin and damage from 2 c sections. My procedure was
covered by insurance, most are not.
Good luck

they do lipo on your sides so you dont get dog ears and they dont do that much
unless you actually pay for it. I have the little bit of lipo and i still have a
small dog ear on my side

It's my understanding that some PS's do some liposuction, whether you officially
"opt" for that or not. You may want to talk with your PS about lipo--I know I
am! I've had three c-sections and a gigantic flap of skin and some hard-to-lose
fat right there, so I'm definitely wanting some of that taken away, as well.

I would not get the surgery unless you are close to your goal weight. Tummy tuck
does not help with weight losss. I lost 76 pounds before I did it. the surgery
is to remove extra skin, not extra fat

I don't know if "constant" exercise is ever necessary unless you just love to
work out every day. It's about eating right and exercising. Remember when you
exercise it's not just for weight management but also to keep your heart and
organs healthy. Being in oxygen and challenging your heart increases your
metabolism and makes your healthier. If you run or even walk at a very fast
pace for at least 20 minutes and you get to a active level heart rate, you will
continue to burn calories even after you're done. Once you get used to
exercising, your body will want you to do it. Eating healthy is mandatory. It
doesn't mean you can't splurge or eat normal, but making healthy choices makes
your body work better and you feel better. As for me, I normally run a few
times a week between 1-5 - 2 miles and walk 2-3 more times a week for 2 miles.
It's over in less than 30 minutes (and trust me, I watch the clock count down)
and I feel like I've accomplished my goal. I'm not a 10 mile person and I don't
like to get bored with exercise. Put on a good movie or listen to music and it
makes it go faster. Also, if you have cable, FIT TV has namaste yoga which is
great, peaceful and really increases your flexibility.
As for your question, yes, you do have to maintain your body but maintaining
your body only makes you feel better. Consider it your gift to yourself a few
times a week. Tell yourself that you're worth the time. I've had the tt, lipo,
breast lift, etc. and that's all great but having a "firm" body is even better.
I don't know anyone who wouldn't like a high tight backside and want to feel
great in a pair of jeans. Feeling great isn't about a size, it's about being as
healthy as you can. Sometimes PS just helps us get what we can't get on our
own. After that, it's up to us.

Than you should take into consideration the question being asked. Your surgery
was not just a TT. She clearly asked about a TT, not a Radical procedure. So
therefore, your information you gave was very misleading.

Hi
I have to disagree with these comments. You do have to maintain
your weight or you will gain weight on your tummy. This is not a
weight loss surgery...it is for removal of extra skin. So once that
skin is removed, you are left with a flat belly. As with a skinny
person with a flat tummy, you CAN and WILL gain weight if you don't
"maintain" your health. As far as sit ups and such. There is only
limits during recovery. I am doing sit ups with now issue now. And any
doc will tell you after recovery, there is no way the you can rip the
muscle repair or harm it any differently than someone who hasn't had
the surgery. The ONLY issue I still have after a year is I am still
comepletly numb in a small circle around my belly button and at times
I still have what us tummy tuckers call "swell hell". I still swell
sometimes and it gives a bloated look. But it's not bad.
So anyway, to say you don't need to maintain is not accurate. And
to say you have limits after full recovery is not accurate either.
There should be no reason why you aren't able to do a sit up. My
advice is to meet with several PS before making your decision. And if
one tells you that you don't need to maintain your body and you can
never do sit ups again, RUN as fast as you can.

As I said I had a radical procedure to correct a recurrent hernia condition.
Doing sit ups is dangerous for ME and I didnt say gaining weight is fine, i said
mine still looks better with the extra weight than it did before. Yes it has
lost its flat appearance but still looks better.

Hi!
I had my TT with MR a year ago June 5th. I have done ok with
maintaining my weight fir the first 6 mos. I then got lazy and out on
some weight. Though my tummy didn't get bug and fat, it wasn't as
tight and nice as after surgery. I started eating right again and
doing my treadmill. The weight has come off and I'm back to having a
great tummy. My point is, no matter what surgery you get, I MUST be
maintained. There is no quick fix that you won't have to continue to
work for. So if your intensions are to do the surgery and think you
can eat anything and not work out, don't waste your time doing it. I
can honestly say that it is the single best thing I've ever done. And
maintaing it is so worth it!!
I hope this info helped. If you have any ithedbquestions I'd be
so happy to help you out. Email me privately anytime!! Best of luck to
you!!

Hi Karrie
I had a radical tummy tuck called a paniculectomy, in 05. Iit was the best thing
I ever did for myself. It actually saved my lief since it kept me from getting
serious recurrrent hernias. have ganied weight since the procedure but it still
looks so much better than my original abdomen. Constant exercise is not
necessary in my opinion, actually in my case I was warned against doing sit ups.
Low impact exercise, walking, etc is best. It is very painful and there are a
lot of risks and restrictions while healing but i would do it again.
Best of Luck

Hi
looking for information from all you girls who had tummy tucks...
have you been able to keep the weight off so that all your efforts weren't in
vain? that's one of the things I'm concerned about...
was it worth it?
can you maintain the work that was done without constant exercise?
thanks in advance
Karrie

Hello,
I'm new to this site and have just a few questions. Has anyone here ever had
any non-sugical lipo? I am looking into a procedure called Accent. It's
suppose to be non-invasive and it's breaks down the fat with heat. It's suppose
to firm and tighten and remove cellulite. It's also very expensive. Before I
committ myself to it, I was hoping to find real people who have had it done.
Thanks so much for all your help!
I am very confused as to how to pick a rhinoplasty surgoen after serveral
appointments. Is it best to go to an ENT with plastic surgery certifcaation, a
facial reconstructive surgeon (I hav trauma to the nose) or an aesthetic plastic
surgeon? Since their specialties vary so widely, I am confused. They all want
to do the surgery, then I find they really specialize in breast surgery or
something else. I'm in Virginia. If anyone can offer advice, I'd appreciate
it.
