-Hi
I had three surgeons in mind when deciding on who to choose...I went
to the first and was so struck by his warmth and compassion,I knew he
was the surgeon for me.Plus he came highly recommended.
My surgeon took the time to answer all my questions, alleviate my fears
and make me feel relaxed.I went for an older surgeon, because I feel
they have more experience and lots of time to perfect their techniques
The day of the surgery,he met with me,marked me up and took the before
pictures..He reassured me and that made me feel better, altho the
pre-meds didn't hurt LOL
After surgery when I was in my room,he came to see me,looked at the
incisions and again reassured me.He insisted that his surgical
patients stay overnight, which was great and I was given fantastic
care,had my own day/night nurse...Was fed,given a sponge bath and was
well cared for
My surgeon came in the next morning, again checked swelling and
incisions, made the appointment for the followup and gave me his cell
phone number and told me to call him day OR night should I have concerns
So far my followups have been fantastic.I was sad when he told me 5
days post op that I would have to keep the drains in for another
week, but when I went to see him yesterday to have them removed,he
THANKED ME for my patience and for leaving in the drains an extra week
He was so gentle taking them out and said he is glad that I could
voice my fears and pain to him because then he knew how gentle he was
being or not being.
I was on pain meds for just 4 days and had no real pain, just
discomfort. The worst part I think is having to sleep on my back for 2
weeks and the drains being a pain...
But I have a great husband that took over the house, gave me sponge
baths, and changed my dressings daily..it does help to have someone
take care of you the first two weeks
