Hi there! Congrats on your surgery! I had a TT and lipo, and here are some
ideas that I have for you...
I know it might sound weird, but I was so grateful that my family's "stray
sock" box was in my closet right next to my recliner. every time that I had a
pinching binder or the velcro was rubbing my skin, I grabbed a stray sock in
the right size and thickness and shoved it in there. It was perfect.
Here are some things that I had to get as I recovered, but this might be
specific to my doctor-- you might call the office and ask the nurse about these
things, and she might refine these items for you specific to what your doctor
wants. After my drains came out the doctor told me to get Bacitracin
ointment and 4x4 gauze pads to cover the holes until they closed. The binder
kept
them in place so no tape. also he told me to use the yellow Dial soap when i
showered and we had to get some of that. Keep lots of bottled water around--
the more you drink the better you will feel and you wont tip the glass over
in your postop clumsiness, and it makes you get up to void often which is
good for your circulation . Plain tylenol will be good for after your
prescription is too strong but you still need a little pain meds. my doc said
no
ibuprofen or aspirin (probably a blood thinning thing...)
oh! ONE MORE THING THAT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! Get some little packets of
rubbing alcohol pads-- the ones they use to clean your arm with before taking
blood. You can get them at the store or ask your discharge nurse for a handful.
My discharge nurse gave me this tip that really helped me a LOT. when I
would stand up and feel dizzy (especially when I took the binder off and TED
hose off for the first time and all the blood started rushing into my legs),
you
open one of those packets and breathe it in for a few minutes. It supposedly
tricks the brain into not knowing how to feel nauseated. If I felt faint,
I would sit down with one of these and inhale deeply and it helped regain my
composure. Later, I would breathe these for a few minutes before I would get
up, and I feel as if it really helped me.
Good luck with your TT!
Amanda
