Hey Rose,
I don't know if this explanation will help, but at the very least, it'll get you
something that
looks like cornrows until you get better. Take a rat tail comb and starting on
the right or left
side of your head, use the tail of the comb to "draw" a line from your forehead
to the nape of you
neck (that's you making a part). This should form a row of hair for you to
attempt the cornrow.
Since you are a beginner I would say make no more than about 4 or 5 of these
rows. Hold all the
rest of your hair with the exception of this row in a big clip or scrunchie.
Take BOTH of your
hands and hold a little bit hair of the front of your row and with your pinky
facing your forehead
and your thumbs facing the nape of your neck, start braiding the little bit of
hair. About an
eighth of the way down the braid, pick up some more hair to become one of the
three bits of hair
you braid and continue braiding. Repeat from "about an eighth of the way
down....to braiding,"
until you have reached the nape of your neck. Hopefully this is not too
confusing. Maybe someone
can read it to you while you try it. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
