Hi Brenda! I'm Gwen...i agree on that early diagnosis thing... I was symptomatic for five years before getting my diagnosis (which just came this past april) I'm 27 now but my first attack was in 2004 and lasted a whole week! i actually had a question for the group that I keep forgetting to ask but this reminded me... I don't have any kids of my own right now but i do want to have one (sometime in the next two or three years) so yeah, no rush or anything but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about MM and pregnancy... i really want kids but I don't want to risk myself or a child by getting pregnant if having MM/ a bad attack could be harmful...thoughts? feelings?
thanks!

Brenda - welcome to the group and it is nice to meet you. I think you are very lucky to have been diagnosed so quickly. I had symptoms for over two and half years and saw every specialist that my PCP could think of and finally got diagnosed, because i thought i had a ear infection that wouldn't go away, not knowing it was the fullness that is caused by Menieres. i got diagnosed on a fluck, and now i can't find a specialist, mine is retiring. Anyway i am 34 I was diagnosed last march and have learned so much from this wonderful group of people. Welcome!
Hey! Just wanted to introduce myself. I am pretty new to the online group thing but ready to jump right in...
My name is Brenda and I was diagnosed with Menieres Disease about a month ago. I have to say that first attack was probably the scariest experience I have ever had. I was at work (luckily in a hospital) and everything started to spin. Then came the sweating from head to toe and finally the never ending vomiting. I didn't know what was going on with me. I thought things like "is this what a heart attack feels like?" "am I going to die?" I really just didn't have a clue as to why the spinning wouldn't stop. After being in the ER for over 5 hours, they sent me home with meds and an appointment with an ENT doctor. You know the rest after that.
I am 30 years old, married and have twin babies that will be turning 1 year next month. I have many questions and fears and am hoping that finding a community of people that have the same disease I have will help.
