Hi, I have not posted before, but I have read many posts, and I would
like to know if anyone has had an experience like mine, or has any
answers for me. I would like answers for my own benefit, as well as
the fact that I have chosen this topic for an oral presentation for
my Medical Terminology class(for Medical Transcription).
I have had 2 surgeries, the first in January of 2001, and the second
in June of 2002, for prolapses, bladder, vaginal, and rectal. The
second was done at Mayo as I needed Teflon mesh to reinforce the
tissues. My surgeon told me after the first surgery that he wasn't
sure that the sugery would be effective for very long, as my
connective tissue is very weak. It held for about 3-4 months and then
I was worse than before.
I can't seem to get answers from the medical community as to how much
of a problem I have. They have told me to never do any heavy lifting
again, but that is as far as I can get. I would like to know if there
is anything I can do to improve the strength of my tissues,
nutritionally, or whatever. I also would like to know how 'fragile' I
really am, is this a situation that could become life threatening, or
just an inconvenience? Is there a disease process going on here, or
not?
I realize there may not be answers for some of this, or maybe not any
of it, but I have to keep trying. If anyone has experienced a similar
problem, or knows of where I could get some answers, I would
appreciate hearing from anyone! My e-mail address is;
madavis@.... Thanks for listening! Margaret
