Janet, Ben, Joe and Community Food and Garden Network members,
How about:
-
Having a team build a beehive and talk about bees? I'll coordinate it and provide the materials if necessary.
-
A workshop on how to do a Bioblitz (small scale--in your garden!) to explore the concepts of biodiversity and begin building an inventory of species in our communities. (Ask the Troy folks how they did it, or the Biodiversity Project)
-
An introductory workshop on Areas Verdes, a new partnership between Dane County and Mexicali, Mexico. A couple university students who participated in Mexico this January could present.
-
Reaching out to old and new Allied Drive gardeners to plan and get ready for their season (of course)
-
A demonstration of the Turley Garden Templates for sun gardens, shade gardens, cosmos, childen's dwarf cosmos seed gardens, and children's marigold and zinnias seed gardens. Call Marilyn or Steve at 262-593-8087.
-
A presentation by the Dane County Timebank on how gardeners can earn time dollars by helping each other.
Offer free copies of the Got Dirt? Toolkit and gardening books for door prizes. The Garden Crusader will also offer a $50 gift certificate and will present it personally.
P.S. I'll be in town until Feb 15, then away until March 12, but will respond to emails. Let me know what I can do to help.
P.P.S. The Meriter Commons Retirement Center in downtown Madison needs someone (master gardener, youth, whoever) to help with at least two gardens. Pass it on.
Rick
