Ken (& All )-
This was a suggestion that we use the upcoming second annual mid-winter
& allied groups & related interests co-sponsored “Grow Together Conference” as a venue with one track of working sessions devoted to school and youth gardening. This Conference is still in the very early preliminary planning stage of the process and other than knowing we would like it to take place in late February or early March is not yet defined. CAC Gardens
If anyone would like to be part of the school and/or youth planning tracks please let me know and send along some best dates/times/
locations and I will arrange meeting together. Defining the school and youth garden track(s?) and related community interface with those that care is definitely the way we want to go. Last year we had a mix of presentations and tracks with youth gardening as one track. Maybe this year we could focus more on the school approaches and what ever else would be helpful (like policy/ start-up kits/ summer programming/ your ideas?). Or we may want to do this work in another manner separately or some combination of the two. I expect that there will likely be a good number of like minded folks at the Conference that can help in these efforts.
Sharon Lezberg, a longtime local activist in matters of local food and community gardens (and a member of the City Gardens Committee) is very interested in moving towards a more comprehensive school gardens policy approach and linking various efforts such as Farm to School to school gardens but she is busy until mid December on another project.
Let me know what you think!

Would you be interested in spending, say, a half day getting together to re-energize, get ready for next spring and think about how we can keep gardening momentum going here?
