that deeply enjoys, cares for and is sustained by its unique
environment. As an outreach tool,
Sustain Dane has used a series of six self-facilitated discussion
courses that are taken by groups
in workplaces, homes, centers of faith and other convenient
locations. Total enrollment in the
courses has exceeded 1,000 participants thus far.
Sustain Dane has recently received funding to expand our outreach
and to significantly
increase the number of course groups in the area. Currently, the
courses are offered in several
communities throughout
About the Position. The
Discussion Course Coordinator will be responsible for developing
and supporting current program activities and for significantly
expanding the program over the
next six months. Duties will include:
x Organize discussion courses in
centers of faith, neighborhoods and workplaces
around
including presentations, networking, media and public events.
x Coordinate and support volunteers
x Schedule volunteers with
presentation and mentoring assignments
x Support volunteer task-force
efforts to implement new outreach strategies to faithbased
centers, neighborhoods and workplaces.
x Assist course participants and/or
volunteers in encouraging positive group dynamics
and with progress towards discussion course goals
x Build community amongst past and
potential course participants through speaker
events, service projects, newsletter and social gatherings
x Evaluate and assess effectiveness
of programs strategies as they are implemented
The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and
personal attributes:
x Excellent organizing and
communications skills for working with and motivating
ongoing groups of volunteers and course participants.
x Sharply focused on achieving
results through self-initiative.
x Excellent networking skills for
initiating courses in new communities.
x Demonstrated concern for and
commitment to protecting the Earth.
x Flexible schedule for some evening
and Saturday meetings with community
organizers.
