TROY GARDENS BIOBLITZ!
June 16-17 (1pm Friday through 1pm Saturday)
Join us in our race to identify as many species of mammals, birds,
plants, reptiles, amphibians, vegetables, and insects as possible in
24 hours!
· Learn How to Identify the Species that Live in Your Backyard!
· No experience of equipment necessary, just a desire to Explore and
Learn.
· Come for one hour, stay for 24! Orientations will take place on
Friday at 6pm, 9pm, and on Saturday at 12am, 6am, and 9am(see full
schedule below).

BioBlitz! SCHEDULE:
Friday
1pm: Opening, orientation, and pre-race pep rally!
5:30pm: Potluck dinner featuring Garlic Mustard cuisine, eating the
invasives that reduce the biodiversity in our forests!
6:00pm: Orientation for new arrivals, take an evening bird walk,
identify plants before the sun sets.
9:00pm: Orientation for new arrivals, regroup for the sunset and a
snack, then listen for night noises, search out some moths, or go
searching for mammals by flashlight!
Saturday
12:00am: Orientation for new arrivals, regroup for marshmallows around
a fire in the prairie grotto, check in at our half way mark, and head
back to explore the land at night.
3:00am: Is anyone still awake? Regroup, rest, identify some
constellations.
6:00am: Orientation for new arrivals, breakfast with the sunrise, take
an early morning walk in search of birds and prairie blossoms!
9:00am: Orientation for new arrivals, search for damp spots on the
land where the reptiles and amphibians dwell, join the birds in their
morning rejoicing, and wander through the community gardens in search
of exotic vegetables!
1:00pm: Closing ceremony, celebrate diversity in the urban jungle!
Final count of species announced and dedication of memorial sign which
will help keep us recording life on the land.
