Dane County Nutrition Sites Sponsor “Locally Grown Food Day”

 

Senior nutrition sites, caterers, farmers and other food producers will be working

together Thursday, October 20th to present a “Locally Grown Food Day” to older adults

in Dane County.

 

Sixteen participating agencies will serve a special lunch at their 20 senior meal site

locations consisting of Dane County – grown or produced products. At many of the

sites, lunch will consist of hot pork on a bun, roasted red potatoes, wedge of acorn

squash, Waldorf salad, ice cream and milk. Various local farmers/producers will

provide the food for the meal that will be prepared by the seven caterers who serve these

meal sites.

 

Special programs along the theme of farming today and yesterday and Dane County

produce and products will be offered along with the meals.

 

To make a reservation for the meal, call your local Aging Program by October 18. If

you are unsure of where to make a reservation, call the Area Agency on Aging of Dane

County at 224-3660 to locate a nutrition site near you.
