Troy Gardens Workshop

Exploring Mendota’s Indian Mounds

Date: Tuesday, June 21st, 7 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: Meet at Governor's Island parking lot
Instructor: John Bell

Cost: Free, no registration necessary

Southern Wisconsin was the center of Indian mound-building culture, and Dane County is especially rich in the earthenwork constructions of the first Americans. Several of the mounds, including two remarkable bird effigies, two panthers, two bears, and a deer, are located on the grounds of Mendota Mental Health Institute. John Bell, a community gardener at nearby Troy Gardens, is a student of the mounds and hopes you'll join him on the evening of the Summer Solstice to share your interest, understanding and appreciation of these ancient forms.  Contact info@... or 608-240-0409, or see www.troygardens.org for information.
