CFGN folks,
Check out some of the creative actions these youth have come
up with:
• Hand out fresh carrots at a busy downtown square
during lunch!
• Host an Eat Local Challenge, a competition in your
organization to see who can maintain a diet consisting of local food for a
week.
• Building a raised bed on the steps of City Hall
• Make vegetable hats – have a contest for the
best hat
• Hold a food costume fashion show, with announcer giving nutrition facts
for each food
• Team up with other youth groups that do service (have girl
scouts sell local produce door to door with their cookies)
Any ideas for an event in

EAT IN, ACT OUT WEEK!
(Organized by the Food Project’s
BLAST Youth Initiative)
What: Eat In, Act
Out is a week of events happening worldwide to promote local and healthy
food. Eat In, Act Out refers to using local food, cooking food yourself
instead of eating fast food or take out, and taking action to change our food
system.
When: August 1-7, 2005
Why: Through Eat In, Act Out week, we hope to:
- Encourage everyone in our
communities to eat locally and think critically about their food
choices.
- Build a sustainable food
system where everyone has access to affordable healthy food.
- Highlight the
capabilities and importance of youth in this movement.
- Engage youth in positive forms
of social activism.
- Strengthen our BLAST
connections and build the movement by working together on a national
event.
Where/Who: We’re inviting YOU to participate in your
own community. We encourage organizations and individuals across
the country and around the world to plan events during Eat In, Act Out week to
raise awareness of local food.
How: You can do a single event
or multiple. It can be for one hour or 7 days. It’s up
to you!
