Minutes attached & YOUR RESPONSE REQUESTED!   Message List

Greetings CFGN members,

We had a fun meeting last week at Focuscorp- thank you to everyone who attended! Catherine Murray ended up with a pile of great garden designs to show funders when asking for $ to expend their sensory therapy garden. I’ve attached the minutes to this email, and request your response to the information below.

The Steering Committee wants to thank everyone for participating in the survey mailed out last month. We learned a lot about how you want to participate in this network, what you need from the network, and what you want to contribute to the network. We drafted several goals for the group based on the results from the survey (listed below). At our meeting last Monday we brainstormed objectives to go with these goals. Please look at the goals and objectives for this year and next (below), and let me know what you think! Does this list accurately represent what CFGN is to you? Also, please suggest changes or additions. You can email me directly at dburgardt@... or call me at (608) 246-4730 x238.

Thank you!

Dawn

Our goals:

  1. Support community learning opportunities through conferences and trainings.
  2. Promote resources exchange and networking.
  3. Increase community presence and grow our membership.
  4. Plan for the future of CFGN (financial and organizational sustainability).
  5. Think like a group, work together, and continue to define our group identity.

This season objectives:

  1. Coordinate a conference focused on kids gardening (fall or winter).
  2. Discuss meeting format: # per year, including training/networking/picnics, etc.
  3. Define membership: benefits for members, varying levels of membership, and encourage members to Plant, Grow and Share what we know.
  4. Develop CFGN website.
  5. Create an outreach plan (discuss recruiting new members vs. focus on satisfying needs of current members, and use of events/mailing campaign for recruitment).
  6. Develop group infrastructure (goals and objectives, Steering Committee role, etc.)
  7. Create a 2006 funding plan for staff and projects ($ needed and action timeline).

Next season objectives:

  1. Coordinate one conference each year, with rotating topics (special needs, youth, and senior/low-income gardens).
  2. Develop a group project that combines multiple sectors and builds the network (form an action team).
  3. Set schedule for events in January (meetings, trainings, conference, etc) including topics, dates, and who will contribute.
  4. Create a continued outreach plan for how to grow the organization. (Who are we targeting?)
  5. Create a 2007 funding plan for staff and projects ($ needs and action timeline).
  6. Continue building relationships, being resourceful, and being a CFGN presence in the community!
  7. Review mission, vision, and goals annually to remind us of our own guiding principles.
