School Forest, Habitat Garden, and Prairie Workshop

A workshop for teachers and parents. Learn how to establish a school natural area from teachers who have done it. Get ideas about fostering support for a project, making plantings, and how to use a natural area in the curriculum. Featured presenters include Kim Lowman Vollmer (Clinton Elementary School and Wild Ones) on maximizing participation, and Dave Bendlin (Milton High School) on minimizing vandalism. There will also be practical planting tips given by Jacob Blue from Applied Ecological Services. Each participant will receive a copy of Greening School Grounds: Creating Habitats for Learning, as well as other resource materials. Fee: $25, which includes book and lunch.
