I beg your pardon if I'm the last one to know about
this, but this symposium sounds great!

One of the keynotes is written to my heart:
“Un-Designing for Children and Youth: Rethinking
Horticultural Programs for Young People in an
Increasingly Programmed World”

Too bad it's in NY--anyone know of a last minute
source for scholarships?

If any of you are planning to go, would you consider
sharing your experience with this group at a CFGN
meeting in the fall? I'd love to hear more about
"un-designing."

“Branching Out:
Beyond Formal Garden-Based Education”

An Invitation To…

The Children & Youth Gardening Event of the Year!

Cornell University, in beautiful Ithaca, New York, is
the setting for the 2004 AHS National Children & Youth
Garden Symposium. The theme for our 12th annual
symposium is “Branching Out: Beyond Formal
Garden-Based Education.” This year we offer terrific
examples of connecting children and youth to plants
and the natural world beyond the formal school garden
model.

World-renowned Cornell University and the Ithaca
region offer an unbelievable variety of programs,
field trip sites, experiences, and perspectives that
will inspire you to think outside the sandbox in
teaching and learning with youth and children. This
year’s symposium offers an impressive lineup of great
speakers, outstanding field experiences, and many
opportunities for informal networking
