Hello again.

It's me, the clueless Canadian trying to sort through the American system
:-)

As I mentioned last week, the Army pulled a fast one in July of 2008 and
re-evaluated my boyfriend's injuries and declared he was now disabled due to
the PTSD that manifested in 2008, after the traumatic injury of December
2007. Should I mention that that diagnosis came so far into 2008 because my
boyfriend was unable to communicate with anyone due to a traumatic brain
injury caused by hitting his head on packed sand and concrete hard enough
to crack his Kevlar helmet? The diagnosis came after he began to
communicate, and he was repeatedly waking up, screaming, due to
uncontrollable nightmares. So, that was in March of 2008. The hospital
didn't officially diagnosis him until July of 2008, 2 months after he left
the hospital.

So, they are trying to say he is only entitled to 75% of his base pay rate,
because the PTSD is a 2008 injury, instead the 90% of 100% of his average
pay rate in 2007.

We have appealed the decision, but I'm looking for any medical documentation
that backs up our position that the PTSD is a direct result of the original
trauma in December 2007, and the delay in diagnosis was also a direct result
of that trauma.

Does any one know of any medical studies or documentations that directly
link these two things? Especially Army documentation if possible.

Thank you.

Moria

PS: We almost lost him again twice this past weekend :-( He does so well
medically, and then bang, out of the blue, a life threatening allergic
reaction to medication he has been receiving for months! It is so nerve
wracking!

It covers the basics, too bad it does not offer any further help. Just be
thankful he is a US vet with ptsd, not canadian. I lost all benifates recently,
and with no coverage, no benifates, and no income it's hard living on EI and
trying to pay support to a ex who helped to aggrivate my ptsd.

Paul,

Canadian disability plans I'm good with, and I'm really good at appeals, I
could probably help your situation, if you wish some help, let me know, we
can exchange email addresses and I can probably help you out once I get some
specifics from you.

Any help is appreciated, right now I am making myself felt in the office of my
member of parliament. I have talked to many former members of the military who
like me have been screwed by the system. The common response to our emails is
you have to re enlist so you can pay them for the years of service prior to re
enlisting, no medical help is available because my military records have
dissappeared or are restricted, if you have records of this service then forward
them to us (so they can loose it too). And it goes on from there.

Paul
