October 8, 2002
Dear Midwifery Advocates and Supporters of OFOM,
The Ohio Friends of Midwives would like to take this opportunity to
share information regarding the upcoming MANA (Midwives Alliance of
North America) Conference in Boston on October 24 through October
27. This year marks the hallmark of consumer participation in this
annual event. Please visit the link below to find out more about the
conference and how you can participate.

Midwifery advocates throughout the U.S. (and abroad) will be gathered
together to discuss how we can work together for our communities on
behalf of and in support of Direct-entry Midwifery. Ohio is
presently at an important crossroad concerning the Ohio citizens
right to choose where and with whom to give birth. The introduction
of the Midwifery Bill (House Bill 477) and the legal charges brought
against Freida Miller, an Ohio Midwife, have made it increasingly
clear that the legal status of Direct-entry Midwifery in Ohio must be
resolved.
The Ohio Friends of Midwives could truly use your support! Please
get involved today! Attending this conference may be just the
inspiration you need to get yourselves involved in OFOM and becoming
a midwifery consumer advocate, so that your friends, family, and
possibly your children, will have the opportunity to experience a
safe and legal homebirth experience in the future.
Visit the link... find out about the conference... attend if
possible! Get involved....Join OFOM today!
Thanks for listening! Have a joyful day,
Linda Keller, OFOM Co-Coordinator
