Hi Jamie,
I got your name off your YahooGroup, Columbus Midwifes and Doulas, I
am hoping that you will be willing to place the below petition plea
on your Yahoo site. We are looking for as much support as
possible..midwifery needs to pull together as a profession if we wish
to see it grow in this country and one step in this growth is to
maintain a positive relationship between the ACNM and MANA midwifery
organizations.
EVERYONE is encouraged to sign...midwives, doulas, nurses, partners,
consumers, ect.....
Thanks!! Deb O'Connell, CNM (Vermont).

We need AS MANY SIGNATURES AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!! from EVERY
midwife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...DEM, CPM, CNM, traditional, CM, ..we are
also accepting signatures from politicians, childbirth advocates,
childbirth consumer advocates...all and any of the above!!!!!!!!
If you happen to be an ACNM member..PLEASE post your ACNM member
number also. The petition site has a brief description of why we are
asking for support..I know many of you are also members of the
BridgeClub..but many are not...briefly put...The BridgeClub was
formed as an informal ad hoc group comprised of midwives from both
the American College of Nurse Midwives and Midwives Alliance of North
America to promote unity of all midwives and bring these two major
midwifery organizations to the table in a formal manner through the
formation of a Liason Group.
Recently, the ACNM has pulled out of their commitment to this
effort..despite the votes of members to keep the Liason Group active.
The BridgeClub is meeting with the BOD on May 26, 2002 at the ACNM
National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia and presenting the below
petition to them with a formal motion to reconsider their decision to
disarm their involvement with the Liason Group.
If you have any questions about the petition..BridgeClub..ect, please
don't hesitate to ask.
You may pass the petition link on to WHOMEVER you may think will sign
it..Let's see THOUSANDS of signatures before convention time!!!!
Midwifery is political. We need ALL our voices to be heard..as a
UNIFIED front!!
Sincerely,
Deb O'Connell, CNM (Vermont)
