Hello
I am not a midwife yet but hope to be
I am a nurse specialised in psychiatrics mother of 2 ( age 6 and 9 )
I am the very beginning of my journey towards becoming a midwife ... here in Sweden the midwifes are highly respected with a well established area if expertise and responsibility ... we catch the babies J no doctors here unless things go very bad ... almost all births are in hospital but we have a low incidence of caesarean section J and breastfeeding is common and well looked on by all concerned ... midwifes also work postnatal and in out patient clinic prescribing BC of all kinds ... the most common ones are BCP and the iud..... we do not perform abortions but we do counsel women about the options they have
I am starting my observatory internship on Monday J postnatal first .. then delivery ... (wow) then out-patient clinic.... after that I decide if this is the path for me to take and then 2.5 years of school await me ...
I am very excited
I look forward to sharing my journey with you all and to enjoy your posts and comments
warmest
Diana
