I am a caregiver for a 87 year old patient with a colostomy. He irrigates every
day (I do the
procedure) and I pump 1200 ccs of water into him and wait for it to come out.
Sometimes it
doesn't come out! Where does it go? And most importantly, what can I put in the
water, or
what kind of meducation/dietary suppliment can I give him that will SMOOTH thngs
along????
Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!!

One of the tenants of irrigation is you want to be well hydrated when you start. I believe one of the main functions of the colon is to remove water which is...
