I just got home from my reversal..........went great, was in the hospital
for 10 days, cause I had developed a huge hernia........which took longer to
fix than the reconnect. I was in surgery over 5 hrs. But all is good.
The worst part of my hospital stay was my NG tube down in my nose/throat. I
hated that, and it made my throat so sore, had to grab rails of bed when I
swallowed. I had fluid stool that I could not control about the 4th. day
out of surgery, and that lasted about 4 days, then the rest of the time,
slowly got to where I could tell I had to "go". Since then it has been
normal, was dreading it, cause I thought I might have very loose bowels for
a long time, but my Dr. very good at doing it right, he said I should be
back to normal in 2-3 months. I had to have 'pig' mesh put in where my
hernia was, and that will dissolve soon, and he said the only thing I might
feel is a pulling sensation in that area sometimes. I feel great, and am
so glad it is over. Not near like it was with my first surgery where they
had to leave my incision open, that was really a hard
recovery................Wheatie PS, I had 29 staples, plus 4 in my stoma
area...........incision is about 10 in. long.
