Re: [colostomy] I'm new here

Hi Desiree,

I had my colostomy surgery last October 2004 due to rectal cancer stage II, on the first year it was very difficult and difficult to accept. When you see your body its very ugly. I had 6 cycles of chemo theraphy and 28 days radiation. Radiation made me so sick. I had severe adhesion because of the radiation cause in my small intestine. The I became so thin from 70 kgs. to 48 kgs. I had another major operation to cut the damage instestine. Now after 8 months slowly my weight gain from 48 to 65 kgs. You only pray a lot, have faith in GOD. Nothing impossible when knock his door. I almost dead but through the miracle I'm still kicking and alive. Am 49 this  coming sep. 13. I have to thank GOD for this.

Don't worry friends, relatives and specially GOD everything will be just fine.

GOODLUCK and GOD BLESS TO YOUR HUSBAND.

ANGELO

Hi everyone!
I am really looking for some assistance. To be honest, I am not the
one that will have the colostomy done. My fiance will have the
colostomy surgery at the end of October. He has a disease called
Hidradenitis Suppurativa, which attacked the muscles/tissues
surrounding his colon. This caused them to become severly diseased.
He has the top Colo-Rectal Surgeon in the SF Bay Area.

I have a lot of questions and am unsure of where to start. So I'll
start with the basics. Was the colostomy used as a last resort? Why
did you have the colostomy done? How has your life changed, and has
it changed for the better or worse. What can I, as a significant
other expect?

I do understand that this is a group for people with Colostomy's so
if I don't belong here, I completely understand.

Thank you!!!
Desiree
