Re: [colostomy] Re: Terri Jennings

THANK YOU KEN   MY NAME IS TERRI JENNINGS  I WILL TELL U WHAT HAPPENED TO ME....I WAS N THE HOSPITAL BACK IN 2001....E.R. WELL THE DR. MADE A MISTAKE ON ME  HE  REMOVED 2 GALLSTONES  THEN REMOVED MY GALLBLADDER, BUT HE ENDED UP CLAMPING MY LIVER OFF TWICE....SO THEY HAD TO RUSH ME TO INDIANAPOLIS, IN. TO HAVE A DR. CORRECT IT.......WELL HE HAD TO PARALYZE ME FOR A MONTH   MY 1ST SURGERY WENT OK, SO MY HUSBAND CAME HOME, THEN AT 2:00 AM THE NEXT DAY THE DR. CALLED MY HUSBAND TELLING THEM THEY HAD TO PUT ME ON A RESPIRATOR....THEN WHEN MY HUSBAND GOT THERE THE DR. TOLD HIM IT WOULD BE BEST FOR HIM TO CALL MY FAMILY IN....FOR A TOTAL I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 6 MONTHS.....I ENDED UP LOOSING ALL OF MY INTESTINS EXCEPT FOR WHAT I COULD LIVE ON.....SO IN THE WINTER TIME I HAVE TO WEAR A SURGEONS MASK, BECAUSE I COULDNT AFFORD TO GET SICK.......THEN THEY TRANSFERRED MY BACK TO EVANSVILLE, IN TO DEACONESS HOSPITAL FOR 2 1/2 MONTHS BECAUSE I HAD TO LEARN TO WALK AGAIN.......SO I FINALLY GOT OUT....THEN ABOUT A MONTH LATER I KEPT GOING INTO THE ER, WITH A HIGH FEVER OF 105.7  THATS WHEN THE SAME DR. HAD TO DO THE COLOSTOMY....SO I HAVE HAD MINE FOR ABOUT   2  1/2  YRS....I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT SOMETIMES....& I JUST TURNED 52 YRS OLD    NICE TALKING TO YA      TERRI

Terry Jennings,    Welcome to the group!  I'm a senior guy (77.1/2) having had a colostomy (permanent) nearly 13 years ago, and I worked full time at semi-manual labor right up until I was 75.  I have had many  different kinds of problems with my management after the op, and although I'm managing it okay, I still have an occasional "accident", but that's mainly due to trying to push my wear-time (normally 7 days) by one day longer.  Also, one does have to watch his/her type of food & drink intake.  I still have no trouble with showering or swimming.  Lots of luck to you.  If you want to e-mail (my e-mail device, I-Opener, is not a computer so I can't "chat"), I would like to hear from you. ............Ken Berglund (<kenberg@...>).
