My husband's home now. He's seems to be doing okay. But I didn't get any
responses to my post on Sunday, so the one thing I still would like to know is:
any men out there who've had the take down procedure and had
their penis/testicles turn black/purple & swell? Bob has, and they said as long as it doesn't interfere with him urinating, don't worry aobut it. It's supposed to be normal for this to happen post abdominal surg - gravity in the bed (with feet & head elevated) has all the blood pool there. Anyone have this happen? -----------------------

the intestine away from the abdominal wall & spleen to make it reach the other end to reattach it. It's now the 6th day since the surgery, the pain meds are finally beginning to work, yet he still has the NG tube in, no bowel/gas sounds, and some nausea. The dr won't say outright, but gives us the impression he should be over the nausea & have had some bowel sounds & passed gas by now. Anyone comment on this? The dr said last mon prior to the surg, Bob would only be in the hosp a week - now he says he won't be out before next weekend. Besides Bob getting up & walking around alot, anything anyone can suggest he do to help things along? He's on Rocephin & Ancef (both antibiotics), protonix (an antacid), Reglan (a motility drug to keep his stomach working), Zofran (for nausea), morphine (on demand, for pain), Toradol (for pain/inflammation/swelling), Tylenol for tension/sinus headache from the NG tube), and on Potassium Chloride for IV fluid, I think that's it - although he said he'll probably be asking for benadryl soon - severe allergies to everything!
