Re: [colostomy] Re: Colostomy question

Hi Sara and Amber: I've had a colostomy 11 1/2 years, and I'm managing fairly
well. I do believe that an ileostomy has more of an almost constant output than
a colostomy. I prefer a 2-piece drainable system by Convatec, and I drain and
clean it with rinsing 2-3 times daily. I get a total of about 6 days wear time,
and then I'lll change both pieces at the same time. To help with the adhesion
in making the change I'll apply a skin barrier wipe to the abdomen and will put
a ringed bead of a paste, "Stomahesive", around the outside of the stoma cut
hole on the underside of the wafer. Good luck. .... Ken from NJ

I was wondering for those of you with a colostomy how often do you change or empty the bag a day? Does the colostomy continuously run out like the ileostomy?...
