Hi Jeremy,
I am Sylvia from what your e-mail adres id I figure you might be a fireman?. I don't just a wild guess, I hope that you are doing well under the circumstances, I have had my colostomy for almost 4-years and I have sort of gotten used to it. I know it's hard but look at it this way hopefully you will have it removed in a month. The only advise is for you to chew, your food very well,i normally have my hand pressed against my colostomy if I'm standing up, because you never know when you'll have that certain gurggling sound or the sound of air. Any ways, kkep it dry around the wafer, and if you are concerned about the odor i take nullo tablets they help. They also sell some plastic liners that are great you just pull them out of your bag and dispose of them. Try not to be very self consience, people don't know and they can't tell. I will hopefully have mine reversed on Wednesday, So I have my wonderful fulfillment of liquids for the next two days, they will perform a colonoscopy on Tuesday, and if everything goes well I'll be in surgery on Wednesday, I am kind of scared, not knowing the out come, my Doctor said not to expect to be like 15 years ago, when I had my rectal muscles intact. But enough about me. What happen to you that you had to have a temporary colostomy?. One thing Jeremy is that this website has been a lot of help and I have gotten a lot of answers and advice from a lot of of wonderful people who have what we all have. Don't hessitate to ask, we are all here for you, 24-7. I wish you the best and if I can answer a question dont's hesitate. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
