Re: [colostomy] interested in help for my dad

Hi Cleo (#1392000):
I'm a bit late in responding to your message that I saw posted last week
regarding your dad's colostomy and rectum removal. 10+1/2 years ago I also had
a colostomy with surgicaal removal of my rectum. It's difficult to remember,
time-wise (passage of days or weeks) the progression of healing, but I do
remember that I was very sore for "quite a while" and besides being able to sit
on my sofa, I could sit at the dining table only by having two soft cushions on
the chair. Yes, the soreness and pain will gradually diminish, but I will admit
that right after the op it seems intense, but just hang in there and take the
pain killer meds as needed.
I don't know what to tell you about his colostomy "not working." You'll
definitely have to maintain close contact with the drs. at the hospital. I'd
personally like to follow your dad's progress. (I'm a senior guy myself.)
Please feel free to e-mail me at this address: <kenberg@...>
