Hi,
I just joined today and would like to know what you think is the best
store-bought dye that gives a great true red haircolour with a touch
of burgundy (not copper or orange or auburn and closer to natural
than ones like manic panic). My hair is long, lightened with
Hydrience, level 3 "Seashell" Blonde but I'm a dk brunette with lots
of previous dye jobs in there. It made my colour just a great medium -
light brown. Look forward to your answers!

based on the gold highlights--I think the light auburn would be the
way to go--tinting the brows same color to complement the hair color
would really make the blue jump out in your eyes--touch-ups would be
less of a hassle as well--good luck

my wife has done it--it was a nice change, but
was a lot of work/commitment.

As the strand
test only took it to light brown, may I suggest
soemthng more strawberry blonde or light auburn, based on
your skin tones you described--if you have blue eyes
it would really bring them out.

I'm gonna color my hair permenent for the first
time. Its crazy, I'm obsessed with purchasing hair
color. I'm thinking about donating a lot of them to
women's shelters. But today i'm really gonna use one.
I've used natural insticts a lot because it washes out
after a month. No commitment, no roots. But you can't
lighten your hair color with semi-permenent stuff. So I'm
using Open, Medium Golden Blonde to lighten my light
brown hair. I did a strand test, its not really blonde,
but a very light golden brown, maybe borderline
blonde. If I really wanted to go blonde I would need to
double process, and well thats a lot of work and money
and touch-ups. I do wish I was blonde. I think I
would be happier with a lighter hair color. When I get
really depressed I'm tempted to go solid black. That
would look really harsh against my pale skin. I have
too many freckles and too sweet a smile to go for the
goth/scary look. I'm stuck looking like a country bumpkin
for the rest of my life. At least I could be a blonde
bumpkin. LOL.

Anyone have advice for what its like
to go from brunette to blonde?

my neighbor and I did one anothers hair and brows
this past Sun afternoon--used Garnier--she used a
small tint brush, like they use for highlighting on our
brows without any problem--it tingled for a minute, but
the color matched out fine

i have always colored my eyebrows the same shade
as the color i decide to do my hair (right now its
blue). i have never had a problem w/ it getting in my
eyes or anything. i just put some of the hair color on
the end of a q-tip and do it that way, when i want to
rinse it off, i just wet a face cloth and wipe it
away.

btw- i'm new to this club and i'm so glad i found it,
i love hair color!

root down,
andrea

re/ my earlier reply--went to
SallyBeauty.com--they recommend having your brows done
professionally--thye use a differnet type color/process as the concern
is the stuff you have can get in your eyes and be
extremely irritating

I would contact Clairol directly at theri hot
line--on TLC channel the other day there was a makeover
whrere a girl had her eyebrows bleached--it was with a
creme--her head was back in the shampoo basin with color on
it as well--it was applied with a tinting brush. I
think the key is to keep your eyes protected--maybe
consider buying a set of safety goggles that wouldn't
cover your eyebrows, yet protect your eyes and you
could do them that way. I agree matching brows to the
haircolorin auburn/chesnut are attractive--good luck

her hair colored and eyebrows colored, as well to
match the haircolor--anyone have any photos to post??
with this in process??

I've seen this several

so basiclly, this is like a plastic coaing on
your hair.... you take the tube and place it around
yout hair, and melt it on..... hmmm somehow it doesn't
seem like it would feel too good... intriguing idea,
however...... do you have any pictures you could send
me?
thanks

Ok well this is what i have found out so far.The
tubeing like you would get at DIY or at lowes.(the small
stuff that has nothing in the middle.) that will
work.but heres the down part.to get it to stay on your
hair you have to told the blow dryer on it until your
scalp like burns. But i was searching around and i found
something better.i was in a chat room and this girl sent me
apic of this plastic stuff she got from the craft
store.(its like flat and comes in mulit colors)Well she went
out and bought a old wig from a thrift store and cut
all the hair of it.Then took this plastic stuff and
had cut it at about 2 feet of this stuff and then
looped it through the netting of the wig thing..and then
tied a knot with the plastic stuff. If that makes any
sense.i have been finding out more and more about it.You
can email me at zoemarie16@... and i can give
you more info :)

Hi there.. Well without actually seeing your hair
in its natural state, it's hard to say exactly what
to use.. A 10 vol developer DOES lift your natural
but not that much like u already noticed... But yes
at the regrowth it is going to work a little more,
being that is the closest to your scalp and it's warm.
Using a lower developer CAN help, if your hair right
now has a brassy tone to it, then a toner should do
fine. If it's more orange you want to remove, then use
a BLUE based toner, If it's too yellow, then a
violet base. But a blue level 6 or above should work. It
sounds like your base level right now is more around a 5
or 6.. so you want to tone it with the same level
toner. or lighter if you don't want a real dramatic
result. So yea. Try a toner at 1 level higher than what
you are at right now. You'll have to forgive me, if
this sounds kind of mixed up. It is the 4th of July,
and I have been drinking! :) If all else fails, there
should be a hotline # on what ever color brand u are
using, if not REDKEN has a #, when i go to the salon
tomarrow, I will get it for you. .. GOOD LUCK!

I used a 10 volume developer with a light
ash
brown color. I thought a 10 vol only
deposits
color... it lightened mine a bit, and added a brassy tone.
The color brand was L'Oreal Preference- which I got
at a beauty supply store.
Should I have cut it
down to a 5 vol? Or,
maybe I should have used a non
lift color.
Specifically, L'Oreal Radiance or
Clariol's...
of course I had to forgot the name- LOL. Are
they
both good, is one better??? One more question, since I
am using a 10 vol- can I get
by without using an
'ash' color (my hair always
picks up a warn or
brassy tones. Even when I
use an ash color *and*
drabber- especially the
roots). At the moment my
haircolor is kinda
dark blond/light brown... w/ lots of
brassy
highlights. Funny since my natural color was
a light
brown, with no gold or ash highlights
(isn't that
called mousey brown??).

What is the best way to get really white hair all I can ever get for is pale
yellow. I tried different toner (Manic panic (virgin snow), purple shampoos
etc.
