Thanks so much for taking this on and getting some answers. I think the
answer is to repost them to the sister site. Can this be done?

Is anyone here up on how to do taxes?
If so I have a few questions as to filing an amended return 1040x

1. How do you deduct your mortgage interest?
2. Can you deduct the property and/or local tax?
3. I know you can deduct medical expenses in excess of 7.5% of gross income
but how do I do it?

I have read the instructions but I'm lost. I can do basic taxes w/o all the
deductions but after that I get very confused.
I need the Taxes for Dummies explanation. Please know my math skills are
very basic
I am hoping to get a few hundred dollars off of this that can pay a few
bills.

Thanks
Narice

Teaching Nate to drive has been very interesting. He
has not driven much since he recieved his license
officially. Yes he has a license to drive. He j
has taken our "work" van and have driven it to school
a couple of times because he was late for classes.
Other than that he really hasn'r been that interested
in driving. But I would love to teach your son to
drive. He is about 15 isn't he? So I have some time to
prepare. Maybe I will have Nate teach him, since he
will be well experience by then.
Other than that Janet has been fine. She spoke with
the surgeons at Cook County Hospital recently and she
will have her colonscopy now in January rather than
November because they are behind. The machine broke or
something.they already sent her a bunch of stuff to
cleaan her out...yuk.
Anyway thanks for stopping in at Janet's group. You
sound like you are doing well. I am sure Janet will
respond to your post later.

Karima, I am wishing you all the luck in the world that your house
sells for all the money you are asking for it. Also that your move
goes easily and the drive is a safe one. I just wish that you did not
have to sell so much of your personal belongings to make this all
come true. But then we all have more stuff that we hang on to that we
do not need. You are a strong lady to go and make your dreams of
moving come true. God Be with YOU on this and Bless every part of
this. Ingrid

Well, I got the realtor himself bounced from my house and have individual
contracts with five other local realtors. I like all of them. I have decided
on a day to leave....????? ready????? December 3rd and you know what is
funny, I don't even know what day of the week that is. It is my friend Joe's
birthday. He is Catherine's brother-in-law.

My daughter had the closing on her house yesterday and I was with her and they
are furiously painting and she is having wood floors put in and then she will
come get the stuff she is buying from me. I have managed to squirrel rent money
away for the apartment and am going into the city next week to sell a diamond to

Wish me good blessings from the Lord and take good care of yourself.

Karima, I know for a fact that you CAN break the contract with your
existing realtor. I did that when I was selling my last house. I
became very unhappy with her. I just told her I wanted to break the
contract. Then I just listed with a different realtor. Are you going
to change realtors? I hope your house sells quickly and for the most
   money you can get. Ingrid

I know I ask alot of questions but I have another one. Has anyone had
any experience with MD Anderson in Orlando, FL? I was wondering if it
is the same quality as the center in Texas. Thanks

Narice, I hope that Phil gets some relief from the rash. But then it
is good since they say that it means the chemo is working. The poor
man to have to endure this....
When will the interview be aired? I do hope that people will come
to realize the importance of testing. I sure wish I would of taken it
more seriously earlier. Ingrid

I do not like Noni juice myself. Bleck. And no, I drink the essiac straight
out of the refrigerator with distilled water...2 oz each twice a day. I don't
sweeten it. Some folks have laughingly said it tastes like dirt; I think it is
fine. A close friend even gave it to her son when he was 8 and had cancer; he
is now going on 19.

Hi, Karima. I wanted to reply to your message on Noni juice, but there are so
many messages in this group that I got lost. heh

I think I was most worried about the juice being bottled in Hawaii and sitting
in hot warehouses, not knowing if it was expired. But if it is bitter, as people
say it is, I know my husband would not drink it.

I have read the info on essiac tea from the Internet. It sounds interesting.
Is the essiac tea bitter? Do you add sugar or honey or sugar substitute? TIA

Essiac tea is used by cancer patients. I'll find you a link about the nurse
who got the recipe from the Ojibway indians. I believe her name was Rene Caisse
( essiac ). I drink it twice a day. It is $30 a bottle, also called
Floressence. I used to buy the pre mixed herbs and make it but the time took
too long. Two oz in am and 2 oz in pm.

Not pooh poohing at all Just beware it does not CURE anything.
That is where I have disagreements.
Otherwise unless your doctor specifically says no if you want to use it go
     for it!
Natural foods and remedies are good for a lot of things just not always
     cures.

As for Noni I haven't tried it but hear it is bitter. If you go to the
websites there are sometimes false claims. If you are interested you are
better
off going to a place like GNC or a health food store where the sales people
know the products and can advise you on what is best for you.
There are some marketing companies that use false claims to sell even
though
the product itself such as Noni may NOT make such a claim so just be
careful
     who you are dealing with.
May be better to deal directly with a salesperson or a doctor who treats
with natural products than order over the web.

Hope this clears things up. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Have a cup of tea on me. By the way what does Essiac do?
     By the way

     Dear Narice,
I know you have gone through so much with Phil but I just can't go along

Noni
because I don't like the way it tastes. But I take PawPaw (which in
Oklahoma
they use to kill roaches in barns!) and I am taking the Essiac Tea which
many
people pooh pooh and then of course there is the Reliv which is a food
product in a can which makes no claims other than helping your body to
heal
itself and they have many, many testimonials from people who are 8+ years
from
original diagnosis. I have had to stop some of the Reliv until I recover
more
from the take down surgery. I don't think saying all they are doing is
taking their money. I truly believe in the efficacy of some of these
products.
NONE say the cure cancer, they just report success stories. I took Aloe
for
months before and after my initial surgery and absolutely know it helped
with
     my recovery.

     Just sharing my opinion.

A question for everyone. Does anyone drink Noni Juice? I am at a

soothe body aches and pains while also helping to relax the body.
Noni Juice is recommended as a way to maintain overall health. The
label says drink 1 ounce per day from 32 oz. bottle. I am wondering
if this is something that people having chemo treatments would be
able to tolerate. I am not sure if it is a clear liquid. If anyone

I tried many things for the rash as I had it quite heavily. I found
that caladry or calamine helped a bit. I also tried Aveeno, gold bond
cream, lamosil, powder and a few others. Nothing really helped. The
rash on my back and chest did not usually itch though. I ended up
shaving my hair to about an inch because my scalp kept getting
infected. The nurse who headed the research dept. at the cancer center
said she had heard of people dabbing the spots with head and
shoulders. I did not try that one. It has been 6 weeks since I
stopped erbitux and you can still see the spots although they have
faded some. Erbitux did clear up the mets in my liver while I was on
it. Now that I am off it I have the beginnings of one spot in my liver
again. Good Luck. Both Mike and Phil are in my prayers.

I have heard about the essiac tea, just can't afford it. Also alot of
the herbs can increase chances of bleeding and I am on coumadin. MD
Anderson has a good site for checking out herbs and supplements. It is
http://www.mdanderson.org/departments/nutrition/dIndex.cfm?pn=0B726D07-
F6DA-11D4-810400508B603A14
If this does not work it is under their complementary/alternative med.
section. I have looked up alot of supplements and gotten good info
there.

Hi, nyleve! Glad to hear you are home from the hospital! Hope each day the pain
is less and less for you!

What kind of foods are you eating on that low fiber diet? I would be interested
to know. Please keep in touch. :)

good care of me. I lost about 12 lbs and am on a low fiber diet. My
back hurts alot as I can't stand up to straight because of the
incision. Well that is all for now.

Hi Deb, we are almost neighbors:) I'm in south central Missouri.
I have just written your name and Sams' on the list. I will be sending the list
Sunday evening, but can always add someone at the last minute on Monday.
I think the weather will cooperate for you and I on Monday. Suppose to be clear.
This is the only thing I know to do to help. I just want to "fix" everybody so
badly. I am coming up on my 2nd anniversary of being diagnosed with uterine
cancer with spread to pelvic lymph nodes., Stage 3C, Grade 3 very aggressive. So
my treatments were aggressive, thus, I'm left with intestinal parts missing from
radiation damage. That's why I'm here on this list:)
anyway, I do believe there is power in prayer and let's do it:)

Love to you and Sam,
Nancy J

I think you are all right about putting our numbers on the internet.
My number is all over the net too with the horse breeding biz we
have. But yes it would be great to have several keepers with our
personal phone numbers. So how about it Donelle. Want to be a keeper?

I am no doctor, but I recall somewhere that the 5-FU makes you more sun
sensitve and you burn easier. So I would use a cream or spray on
instead. Sure would hate for you to get a burn. Ingrid

So sad. Seems now this is really coming out to the public. Hopefully

body exfoliating products and a wonderful tanning lotion. Also, some new
foundation in a color a little darker than pasty pale. Ha Ha. Love you all,
Patricia

Patricia are you currently on chemo??
If so then NOOOOOOOOO , you will BURN ,
Learned this the hard way Joe sat out for 10 min one day while on chemo and
got BURNT!!! he looked like a lobster

Well, now we get the side effects. The acne rash, which is actually more
like heat rash so far on Phil's back and shoulders. Stomach bloating and
constipation, and fatigue.

In the whole scheme of things we realize that this is a little thing and
actually could well mean that despite the discomfort the Erbitux is indeed
working.
Of course it is still uncomfortable for him.

The TV interview went well although I wish the doctor had been a little more
convincing about the need for testing even at younger ages like 20 or 30. He
stuck to the line that this is necessary when one has history of cancer but
not as a general rule. Unfortunately we were not interviewed together and
could not dispute his argument with facts that people have been diagnosed in
their 20's and 30's with stage 3 & 4 colon cancers.

We still stand by testing for every adult and have even received a few notes
thanking us for insisting on it.
