Re: [colon_cancer_support] Re: CEA not for screening
<<Hey, isn't there someone here metastatic with NORMAL CEA? Just noticed this
remark
[snip]
Elevations of this marker is seen in colonic and rectal malignancies.
This is observed when the tumours are well differentiated. Poorly
differentiated tumours lose the ability to produce CEA>>
...........Well Rick's CEA isn't normal yet, but at last test 3 weeks ago it was
15 (down from 289) and he'll have another one in two weeks. His CEA is much
lower than what the CT Scans seem to show ........... there are still so many
tumors on his liver they can't count them. Being that the majority of those are
smaller lesions/tumors .......maybe this latest piece of information explains
why his CEA is getting so close to "normal" even though his tumor burden isn't.
Seems to make sense. Thanks, Donna S.
