My husband and I adopted a beautiful 6 month old baby in December in China. We
named her Lia Shu Grace. She will be 9 months old on March 4th and is currently
in a spica cast for congenital hip dysplasia. On Feb 4th, she had an open
reduction on her right hip and a closed reduction on her left hip. She will get
a new spica cast on March 6th and also begin serial casting for her bilateral
club feet. Although we live in North Carolina, we have elected to seek treatment
in Iowa City at the world renowned Ponseti clinic for clubfeet.
Lia is an absolutely delightful adorable baby. She is a gift--an absolute joy to
behold!
We're all adapting to life with a spica cast. My concern at the moment is that
she has a hard time burping now and will sometimes cry and scream hard during
bottle feeding. She also has had upper respiratory issues, congestion and
coughing, since we adopted her that seem to also confound the gas/burping issue.
Any advice would be great.
Thank you!

Hi Kristin, it's Jenn from BabyHipWear... though Emma was only in a
harness, I do know from dealing with other moms through my business
that due to the constraint from the cast, it does cause some
agitation with eating etc... glad you ordered the book Parents Guide
to Hip Dysplasia from my site, because I think you will find it
helpful. I sent you an email this am so please read ans respond when
you can!
