Hi all, my name is Jenn and I wanted to shoot a quick introduction with
our story. I was born with bilateral hip dysplasia 36 years ago and
wasn't diagnosed until I was 1. I wore a brace 24/7 for a full year,
then was weaned to 8 hours a day for the 2nd year. The good news is
twofold: 1. I don't remember a thing and 2. my hips are perfectly fine
still at age 36. When my daughter Emma was diagnosed at 3 months old
she was placed in the pavlik harness for three months, 24/7 then weaned
for another 1.5 months for just sleeptime. At 15 months she now goes
for 4 month check ups. I hope I can bring some of my experiences to
the group...as not only have I been through it both myself and with my
daughter, but I also run a support group on babycenter.com and have a
business called BabyHipWear which provides clothes for the 'hip' kids.
I live and breathe hip dysplasia and I'm here to help if needed.
Continued healing to all...
