Hi
Sounds ridiculous but I'm not really sure. I only know that maddie has DDH as
that is what it says on her notes at hospital. I think CDH might be when it is
a case of when it runs in the family? Where as developmental is developmental?
I really don't know to be honest and would love to know if anyone out there
does.
Like Aidan, Maddie had one worse than the other hence she's had an open
reduction (actual surgery) on her left hip and a closed reduction (when they
manipulate it into place) on the other. It was quite complicated as the two
were so different, one very loose and one too tight. Anyway - fingers crossed
all is well now and we've another xray in November to check.
I'm sure if they'd put the pavlik harness on her straight away we'd not have had
to go through quite so much. It looks like you've got the best care very
quickly. Good luck anyway and whatever the outcome is you'll be amazed how you
cope and Aidan will be fine. They just adapt to it and Maddie actually missed
her cast when it came off!!
I see you've been on the steps forum - its a great place to get help so if you
do go the next step with an arthrogram then ask them all loads of questions and
you'll be prepared for anything!
Take care
love Caroline and Maddiex

Subject: [Clicky Hips Club] Difference between CDH & DDH
I know this might sound like a stupid question but what is the
difference between CDH & DDH?
I know that CDH is congenital dislocated hip and DDH stands for
developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). But what are the actual
physical differences between the two. Everything I seem to read uses
both terms but doesn't describe the difference.
Thanks,
Rebecca.
