Hi Terry, I have become good friends with a girl who was in the
hospital at the same time as myself and my daughter, she has a little
boy with CDH and like my daughter he was also in a spica for just over
2 years and last year only just a year after coming out of the spica
he did a 1 mile sponsored walk to raise funds for the hospital,he is
now 4 and my daughter is 5. My daughter still could not walk that far
yet as she still tires very easily, so yes in my opinion boys to tend
to bounce back from these things quicker than girls. My daughter is
getting there slowly though.
Hope it all goes well

member but just wanted to make contact. My daughter, Maddie, is
going into a spica cast in November so we are just trying to gather as
much information as we can before then. I'm glad for you that the
docs seem to think a pavlik will do the trick, I think the fact that
he is so young, like Maddie means that there is a much better chance
that these things will work. They didn't think a pavlik would work
for maddie as her hips have never been in their sockets and she is
quite a severe case but the plaster, fingers crossed, should do it. I
must admit I haven't heard of any boys with cdh so can't answer your
question re that. The nurses at Oswestry told me to stay positive and
realise that Maddie will come out of this with perfect hips and lead a
normal life and I'm sure that is the case with your son too.
