Hiya, just wanted to introduce myself, thanks for accepting me to
the group!

My daughter, Layla, is now 19 months old. Due to many faults on part
of my previous GP, Layla's DDH (Developemental Displasia of the Hip)
was suspected at her 6week check, but not diagnosed til 6months.
As her bones had calcified/hardened, they opted for manipulation of
the hip and she wore the spica for 3months.

Since then, Layla has learnt to bum-shuffle on her side mainly, but
also crawl. Recently she's started pulling herself up standing;
holding onto furniture (though squeals when she wants to get down!).

Unfortunately, follow-up X-rays showed the hip had further
displaced, due to the shallow socket, and she's now due for the full
operation and spica again this October. London hospitals are so over-
subscribed that it's taken another 6month wait for this 2nd
appointment!

I'm extremely frettful of the three months she'll be in the Spica as
she's a very demanding, restless baby as it is, and enjoys her
freedom more than anything now.

I don't have any friends with young children or babies, and i don't
get visited much by anyone, nor do I have much help, being a single
mother. So ANY advice on adaptions around the home for a larger
(she's the size of a 4year old already) child, and little tips on
how to keep her entertained would be so very appreciated!

I doubt i'll be able to leave the house with Layla at all as she
will definately not fit into any standard buggy, but if anyone
know's of a UK charity or manufacturer of disabled buggy's,
information on those would also be an enourmous help.

Thanks for reading, Helen. Xx
