New Member - Twins Alister and Nathan   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2395 of 2500 |
Hi, I'm a new member and thought I'd let you all know what are
situation is. We have twin boys Alister and Nathan who will be 10
months old on Saturday. Both have CDH.

Nathan was a breech baby so we were sent for the usual tests. His
right socket was very shallow so they put him in a Pavlik Harness.
After 16 weeks they decided this wasn't working and wanted to do an
arhtorogram to see what was going on. In the meantime they decided
to check Alister as well and decided although not as bad his right
hip was a little shallow.

The boys both had arthorgrams done three weeks ago. Alister does
have cartilage so the have put him into a Hewson brace and hope this
should sort things out in about 3 months. Nathan however is going
to need an operation to sort his out, which we have been told they
will not do until he is one. We have been referred to the John
Ratcliffe at Oxford for this treatment and are awaiting an
appointment.

Nathan is free from harnesses/braces at the moment which is good, he
is however starting to roll over and sit aided and I am a bit
concerned that this will cause him extreme frustration once he has
had the operation and is in plaster. Has anyone had experience of
this?

We are taking each day as it comes and I think we are hoping Ok. We
had to get a new car seat for Alister when he was put in his brace
because he was too wide. The pushchair has become a bit of a
problem as of course we need a twin. At the moment we have borrowed
a tandem which gives Alister enough room in the front, but we will
have a problem should they both end up in braces/plaster at the same
time. Advice greatly appreciated.
