Hi jennifer,
I have have heard of a similar story, although not as traumatic as
yours, it is so traumatic for the parents (i end up in tears each
time we see our consultant) and to add this confusion.....you must
be i a right muddle. I have a friend who's children were being
treated by my consultant and she sought a second opinion and was
told that her childrens hips were acceptable and they are at the
same degree as my daughter and her children will not need asn
operation, which was the oposite to what she had been told by my
consultant.
My daughter went into a brace last July and we were told her hips
here (R)20 (L)30 and the left was totaly unacceptable (which now
confuses me a bit after seeing your hip degrees) and she was to wear
the brace for 23 hours a day. We were told she would need the brace
for approx 8-9 months. That time was up in March when we saw the
consultant for our last apointment and he said she must continue to
wear the brace for at least 22 hours a day and he would see her in
August! ( by which time she will have been in the brace 13m!). As
you can imagine we are not very happy, the consultant has been
inconsistent all the way through her treatment and even said after
3m he was so amazed at her progress that she may not need to
go "full term" in the brace and the staff have been so rude and
unhelpful that this time was the last straw and we have gone for a
second opinion. The second opinion is this week and i am now
dreading that our consultant has been so wrong and she is worse than
we though.......we realy don't want to have to start again on an
even harder road!.
As far as i can see you are going down the right road and are seeing
another consultant who will give you a second opinion!
god luck, let us know how you get on
Zoe
