Hi Vicki,
I'm from Australia, where my then 12 year old daughter had what they
called a 'Triple Pelvic Osteotomy'. If that's similar to what your
daughter is having, then hopefully her recovery will be as quick as
my daughters. There was no cast or traction and she was up on her
feet (gingerly, within the hospital) within a few days. Her pain
levels lessened to about 2 out of ten (on a scale from 1-10) within
the second week and she was only on normal paracetamol. Her 'nuts
and bolts' are still in and will stay there forever. She also had a
femoral osteotomy at about 6 years of age. Again there was no cast,
but she wasn't on her feet for several weeks. The recovery from this
op was a little longer. If you like, you can read her full story at

All the best and feel free to ask me any more questions.
Cat.
