Hello,
I have a five and a half month daughter currently in the Pavlik harness.
We knew Lucie could have bad hips because my Mum has C.H.D. It still
came as a schock when Lucie was diognosed with the same. Both hips are
affected, but the left more severly. Her sockets were described as
shallow.
Lucie was first placed in a German bead and brace type harness at 3
months old(not sure of the name) , this improved her right, but not
her left hip. Lucie has since been in the Pavlik for the last 3 weeks.
The ultra-sound 1 week ago showed a massive improvement in her right
hip and a considerable improvement in her left.
She still has to wear the harness 24/7. Her next appointment is on the
21st of this month, so I will then know what will happen next.
We attend the Royal Berkshire Hospital and have recieved great care
from all the Staff.
I am also a member of the Australian Hip Group run by Cassidy's Mum,
who has also just posted on this board.
It's good to talk to some English parents as things are done slightly
differently over here.
As Lucie is approaching 6 months old, I realise time may be running
out with the Pavlik. Has anyone's little one's had the Pavlik on over
6 months old ? Thanks Kirstie
